Jay Giordano, Founder + Clinical Director
Jay Giordano, LMHC, is the founder of Pillars of Good Health, a mental health counseling organization dedicated to providing community-based care for individuals with persistent mental illness. With nearly 30 years of experience in the field, Jay's approach is shaped by decades of hands-on work with clients experiencing long-term mental health challenges. His therapeutic philosophy blends principles from Rogerian Theory—fostering strong client relationships—and coaching methodologies, which emphasize collaboration and the development of healthier routines and behavioral outcomes.
Jay's approach to treatment is rooted in a shared experience with the client, where he creates personalized treatment regimens that incorporate a variety of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Vocational Counseling, Recreational Activities, and Insight-Oriented Counseling. For Jay, case management is about more than just care; it's an opportunity to work alongside clients and other providers to design plans that boost self-esteem, strengthen community ties, and cultivate coping strategies to navigate life’s inevitable challenges.
Pillars of Good Health was born from Jay’s vision of a practice that is action-oriented and focused on results. The work done at Pillars is centered on developing actionable plans to help clients form new habits and live healthier lives.
Additionally, Jay has trained in the Othmer method of Neurofeedback and has been practicing this therapy for the past five years. He integrates Neurofeedback into his work with clients, particularly those in the Supportive Apartments program, helping redirect brain patterns toward healthier habits.
Outside of his professional life, Jay enjoys chasing striped bass and spending time in his garden—what he fondly refers to as "playing in the dirt."
